The Dutch Air Force trains in Italy "HIGH BLAZE 2014"
The Italian Air Force Rivolto base, home of the 2nd Wing, hosted for the fourth consecutive year a detachment of Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force).
From May 12th to 28th, about 150 men and women and eight Apache and Chinook helicopters were deployed at the base in Friuli to train their units in mountain environment, a very different orography from the notoriously mostly flat Netherlands.
The exercise was conducted with the technical and logistical support of the 2nd Squadron; it is a collaborative activity within the broader context of international cooperation multilaterally involving defense countries belonging to NATO and those with whom ties are recognized through institutional arrangements for collaboration.
The entire activity of helicopter flights which covered the north-eastern sector of the Alps has been carried out in full compliance with Italian regulations regarding flight safety and, in particular, there was no activity on night flights and helicopters, during the entire period of redeployment, stayed far from populated centers, parks and protected areas.
